Overview of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) programme for Practising Management Consultants
 

The objectives of the CPE programme are to:

  • Ensure that Practising Management Consultants maintain an adequate level of knowledge, skill and ability to carry out their work competently and professionally, in the face of continuous technological, economic and business environment changes.
  • Provide reasonable assurance to the public and business world at large that Practising Management Consultants’ competencies are being maintained and developed.

To qualify for Re-Certification as a PMC, 2 years after initial certification, the PMC will have to meet the required number of hours for CPE, as shown in the table below:

How to submit your CPE hours

To submit your CPE hours, please login at the “PMC Login” section of the PMC Website www.pmccertboard.org.sg.

Your Login id is your PMC number (e.g. PMC-10099) and your default password is your NRIC number (e.g. S1234567A). You can choose to change your password once you have logged in.

Once you have logged in, click on CPE Event – Submit New CPE, and key in the details of your CPE learning hours.

Core and Non-Core areas

Core subjects   Core subjects are directly related to management consultancy and are deemed necessary for PMCs to be kept abreast of the latest developments in management consultancy practices, globally as well as in Singapore.

  • Project implementation
  • Client consultant relationship
  • Singapore government’s grants and incentives
  • Marketing a consulting practice
  • Managing a consulting practice

  1. SME Consulting, such as:
  • Business owner/ manager’s  duties and responsibilities in SMEs

Non-core subjects  Non-core subjects are not directly related to management consultancy but are beneficial to consultants to enhance their knowledge and skills in management consultancy.

Structured and Unstructured Learning Activities

Structured Learning Activities
Categories of activities

  • Courses conducted by or under the auspices of recognized professional bodies.
  • Studies undertaken for the purpose of preparing for a post-qualification course.
  • Studies undertaken after qualification with a view to preparing the candidate for a post graduate degree.
  • Suitable courses conducted by a university or an academic institution.
  • Relevant courses conducted by a university or a firm in public practice or by a business organization.
  • Publishing of technical articles, papers or books.
  • Working as a lecturer, instructor or discussion leader on a structured course.
  • Participation in conferences, briefing sessions or discussion groups where technical materials are presented.

Unstructured Learning Activities
Categories of activities

  1. Reading of technical, professional, financial or business literature.
  2. Use of audio tapes, video tapes, correspondence course, e-conference etc
  3. Participation at meetings, briefing sessions or discussion groups where no technical material is prepared by the member.
  4. Service as a member of a technical committee of a professional body or individual firm (where no technical material is prepared by the member for review).
